About Emily Lozada-Kirlew
I graduated with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in 2016. From 2016 to 2020, I worked with adults who were committed to the Oregon State Hospital after being found Guilty Except for Insanity (GEI) on a variety of convictions. In September 2020, I decided I wanted to try something different, which first brought me to BetterHelp, introducing me to the rapidly evolving world of telecounseling. After receiving my New Jersey counseling licensure, I was interested in joining a local practice to be able to help those within my own community. I also missed the connection of working with an interdisciplinary team to consult with as needed to be able to provide the best possible treatment for my clientele, which lead me to joining Harmony Bay Wellness.
I strive to provide clients with a safe space to feel respected, heard, and understood. I support clients in building effective communication skills, fostering meaningful relationships, practicing appropriate social skills, utilizing healthy coping strategies, and to establish and maintain healthy boundaries in order to generate positive change. I use an eclectic, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to therapy that is integrative and collaborative. I strive to be client-centered, by working to tailor sessions to everyone’s needs and goals. I have experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and other Cognitive Behavioral approaches. I am also board-certified as a music therapist (MT-BC) since 2011. In my spare time, I spend a lot of time with family, friends, my two Lab-mix dogs (Romy and Michele).

New Jersey LPC since June 2021Psychosis has been a significant interest of mine over the course of my training and education. The same can be said for trauma and continue to participate in trainings and compile effective treatment strategies within these topics/diagnoses. One theoretical approach I have gained more training and experience in is Dialectical Behavior Therapy. In 2019, I attended an intensive 5-day training on this approach led by The Portland DBT Institute, a facility founded by the creator of this approach, Marsha Linehan.
Why are you passionate about providing mental healthcare?
I have always felt a calling and desire to help guide others towards positive self-growth. This is accomplished through the use of active listening as well as providing a safe space for those individuals to confront difficult experiences and emotions so they can learn from them and be able to move past them.
