Kristian approaches therapy by demonstrating support, empathy, and compassion. His style is client-centered, strength-based, and meeting each client where they’re at. Next, Kristian prioritizes each therapy session by focusing on being accepting and non-judgmental. It is imperative as a clinical therapist to help clients connect their thoughts, feelings, and actions while empowering every area of their lives. Therefore, Kristian maintains empathy and objectivity to everyone’s life experiences while providing a safe space to process their feelings and concerns. Education and Certification

MSW Aging and Health Program. His fellowship project was titled “Examining the Well-Being of Older Adults Residents at Parker Home through Music and Memory”. After his MSW program, he continued to advance his knowledge and skills by focusing on substance use addictions and co-occurring disorders.

During this segmentation, he obtained a secondary license as a Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) in 2021.

Kristian noticed commonalities among these populations were the inability to apply healthy coping mechanisms and difficulty regulating emotions which led to chronic drug relapses, low self-esteem, and interpersonal conflicts.

As a result, Kristian received an accredited certification in Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to better service these populations in April 2022.

Kristian is currently in the process of obtaining an accredited certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

In the future, Kristian plans to continue to advance his knowledge and skills as a mental health and substance use therapist and become a certified clinical supervisor to supervise future LSWs and L/CADCs.

Why are you passionate about providing mental healthcare?

Kristian believes that due to life circumstances and struggles, everyone needs a person to communicate with that can provide unbiased and objective feedback. This is what makes mental health therapy important and a necessity. The opportunity to restore and enhance an individual with more confidence, insight, and motivation. This gives Kristian the passion and motivation to assist those in need to enhance their psychosocial functioning.
