How Does Telehealth ADHD Testing Work?

Nancy MacGregor MA, ATR-BC, LPC, ACS, Clinical Director

What is ADHD testing?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, is a pattern of inattention that impairs your ability to function. It can negatively affect your performance at work, school, and even home. So how do you know if you have it?

At Harmony Bay Wellness, we offer ADHD testing using Brain Train IVA-2 that tests for visual and auditory attention and response control functioning. The best part is that it can be done both in person or remotely. In less than one hour, clinicians can evaluate various factors by following a 3-step process.

The benefits of Harmony Bay’s ADHD testing

We make ADHD testing effective and easy for our patients. You have the choice of coming into one of our locations for in-person testing or completing online ADHD testing through our telehealth services.

Here are some of the benefits of IVA-2 testing:

  • Administered in 15 minutes
  • Utilizes ten different data analyses to provide in-depth information in both table and graph format to aid clinicians in interpreting the test scores and data.
  • It provides nine unique interpretive reports to help guide clinicians in better understanding their clients’ attention and response control problems.
  • It provides a report writer that enables clinicians to create a customized diagnostic report based on their comprehensive evaluation.
  • Includes free online parent, teacher, and self ADHD rating scales.

How does remote ADHD testing work?

Remote ADHD testing works the same as in-person testing would, but just through our telehealth services. This lets you stay in the safety and comfort of your own home while taking control of your life. To start, one of our trained clinicians or staff members will administer the Brain Train IVA-2 test.

The Brain Train IVA-2 software that we use helps interpret self-scoring ADHD scales and provides a report that can help guide an ADHD diagnosis. The testing can be administered in just 15 minutes so it’s a quick and easy experience. The results of IVA-2, in combination with clinical history, clinical observations, symptoms, and psychological factors allow doctors to provide a comprehensive diagnosis.

Once test results are back, if the diagnosis is in fact ADHD, our therapists and counselors will work with you to determine a plan of action and care.

Does insurance cover ADHD testing?

Before prescribing stimulant medications, insurance providers often require ADHD testing. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm if they will cover the costs of your ADHD testing.

How is ADHD treated when an ADHD diagnosis is reached?

After your telehealth ADHD testing, a positive diagnosis can be treated in various ways, including a range of mental health therapies as well as medications. Our ADHD treatment center can provide you with medications that will fit your needs.

Examples of medications we prescribe for ADHD:

  • Stimulants: Vyvanse, Adderall, Ritalin
  • Non-stimulants: Intuniv, Strattera
  • Antidepressants: Wellbutrin, Effexor

Stimulants may be prescribed to help you focus on daily tasks and projects. Many people that have ADHD also deal with anxiety or depression, which is why antidepressants may also be an option.

ADHD doesn’t have to disrupt your life any longer. For in-person or remote ADHD testing in NJ, contact Harmony Bay Wellness today at 855.857.6050.
