Dr. Nuzzolo is a Licensed Independent Psychotherapist. Dr. Nuzzolo believes in creating positive change through Social Interpersonal Growth Psychotherapy, a humanistic approach to growth and self-acceptance. Dr. Nuzzolo's areas of expertise include acute psychiatric patient care, crisis management, suicide prevention, substance use, and medicated addiction treatment (MAT) education. Dr. Nuzzolo has worked with alcohol use and opioid use disorders for many years in direct treatment, teaching, and curriculum development of addiction-related training materials and resources. Dr. Nuzzolo's training includes Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Balanced Approaches Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma Informed Care, Person Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, and Solution Focused Therapies. Dr. Nuzzolo possesses a Ph.D. in Psychology, a M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology, and a MA in Behavioral Psychology. Post-Doctoral studies included understanding mental health and addiction as chronic diseases, treating co-occurring disorders, and understanding the neuroscience of addiction.

Why Healthcare
While struggling to navigate a broken mental health system for a family member struggling with a mental health and substance use disorder, Dr. Nuzzolo became passionate in her efforts to provide services. In addition to providing direct patient care, Dr. Nuzzolo's goal is to bring a better understanding to families, friends, and the wider community to help stop the deadly stigma surrounding mental health and the disease of addiction.
