Shawn started working in Behavioral Health in 2007 by delivering Intensive In-Community services to youths and adolescents in need. From there Shawn wanted to further his foundation and experience and completed a Master of Science Program in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. With over 13 years in the field Shawn has helped clients in multiple settings such as hospital-based group therapy, crisis screening and intervention and individual and family therapy. Shawn uses a client-centered, strength-based approach that tailors treatment and care to your individual and specific needs and further incorporates aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused treatment along with a variety of other innovative and engaging techniques to help clients successfully progress through the therapeutic process. In his free time Shawn is a self-proclaimed comic geek who enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching movies and drawing.

I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma Informed Care and use these methods along with a variety of other therapeutic techniques to tailor my approach to each individual client’s needs.
Why are you passionate about providing mental healthcare?
I truly find it rewarding and fulfilling to help others. In today’s world, there is an overwhelming amount of stressors, hardships, and struggles that so many people are experiencing. Seeing family members and friends, and even going through some of these difficulties myself, and knowing that I have the opportunity and ability to assist someone feel better, overcome these obstacles, and succeed, gives me hope and makes me passionate about providing this care.
