Myrto is an LCSW who specializes in individual, group and family therapy. After graduating from Kean University, she has nearly 10 years of social work experience providing therapeutic services to a diverse group of individuals. She also participated in service projects in Haiti and Cuba; serving others/volunteer work is a personal passion of mine that has fueled my work as a therapist. She is experienced in various therapeutic interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Trauma-Focused CBT (TFCBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), trained in both TFCBT and Complex PTSD working with adolescents and adults with mild to severe trauma histories and experiences. Furthermore, she is experienced in working with adolescents, adults, and families with issues related to Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Conduct Disorder, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), Bipolar Disorders, Personality Disorders, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Attachment Disorders, as well as Depression and Anxiety-related disorders. Complex Trauma Certificate

Since working in an out-of-home residential program for adolescents in 2016, Myrto became very interested in trauma and its impact on the brain and behavior. She has attended several trauma-informed trainings and completed a complex certification course on evidence-based interventions for complex trauma. Myrto has learned that traumatic experiences oftentimes are the root of many other mental health disorders and addictions. Childhood and adult trauma have since become a passion of mine.

Why Healthcare

Myrto believes in the importance of relationships in healing from trauma and other mental health issues. Creating a safe, validating space for people to talk about, process, and heal through/from their experiences is very fulfilling to me. Mental health has been chronically undervalued in our society and it shows. She has endeavored to help others understand the importance of prioritizing their mental health.
