What is Anxiety

Anxiety can stem from many things. It can come from a traumatic experience, a side effect from a medication, or even stem from an underlying medical condition.

Treating anxiety disorders is easier when they are caught early on. Therefore, knowing when to seek treatment is essential to an individual’s overall ability to break the cycles of second-guessing oneself, negative self-talk, and indecisiveness.

Symptoms

Agitation denoted by shaky hands, sweaty palms, dry mouth and a faster than normal heart rate.

What To Expect During Anxiety Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

The most common therapy that is used for anxiety is cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT). This therapy encompasses each underlying tenant linked with clinical anxiety. CBT targets the physical symptoms, thoughts, and behaviors frequently associated with anxiety (e.g., over-preparation, avoidance). The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy is for the individual to learn specific skills to help reduce the symptoms they are experiencing.

Harmony Bay Wellness’ therapists focus on skills that include helping the individual identify, understand and change their behavior and thinking patterns. In addition, individuals learn practical approaches to solve problems, allowing them to change how they think to regain control of their thoughts.

During treatment, your doctor may prescribe you medications to help ease symptoms of anxiety. On the other hand, holistic therapy programs may work better for you. This could include things like talk therapy, yoga, and meditation. It’s all a matter of trial and error combined with patience to see what will be best for your recovery process. Once you do find what treatment works best for you, recovery will be achievable.
