About
Since graduating from Caldwell University with a Master of Arts degree, Elizabeth has become a New Jersey State Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Professional Art Therapist as well as a Board-Certified Registered Art Therapist. Elizabeth has over seven years of experience in both talk therapy and art therapy working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in various settings.
Elizabeth's education, training, and work experience have prepared her to specialize in the integration of counseling and art therapy to build rapport, increase engagement, foster communication, and increase effective coping with her clients.
When working with clients, Elizabeth does not believe it is a âone size fits allâ regarding the approach she uses and believes that everyone is unique with different needs. Cognitive-Behavioral, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Art Therapy are just a few treatment modalities that Elizabeth practices from depending on the needs and preferences of each individual client.
Elizabeth's clinical work experience has primarily focused on assessing, averting and/or managing crisis, and stabilizing clients as well as preventing relapse of symptoms from recurring. However, she has extensive experience working with those struggling with suicidal thoughts and self-harming behaviors, those diagnosed with major depression, a variety of anxiety disorders, personality disorders, oppositional defiant and other conduct disorders. The focus in sessions, however, is on a clientâs feelings and symptoms experienced, opposed to a diagnostic label as Elizabeth is a firm believer that a person is not their illness.

Why Healthcare
Despite all the strides forward, mental healthcare can still be stigmatized today. There are many varying ideas, opinions, and feelings associated with mental health that may cause people to not seek treatment or to be resistant to treatment. Breaking the stigma, educating, and advocating for a system that can better everyone's life is something that Elizabeth has always believed in.
