About
As a first generation coming to the US, Shams attempts to preserve and use cultural awareness and competency with her clients of different origins. Shams specifically works with young adults and employs a holistic strategy to promote self-awareness and self-kindness. She received her training as a client-centered therapist at Rutgers University, School of Social Work in New Jersey. Sham's goal is to give her clients an atmosphere of safety where they feel free to communicate their thoughts and emotions fully. She draws on CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, and client-centered therapy elements.
On a more personal note, Shams enjoys walking and hiking with her dog and being a big animal lover. She likes to take care of plants and practice other mindfulness activities. Lastly, Shams enjoys exploring new recipes from different cultures and learning how to cook different meals.
