About Katie Cartwright
Katie began working as a therapist in 2009 after graduating with a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from The Alliance Graduate School of Counseling in Nyack, New York. In those 12 years she has worked with adolescents, adults, and couples in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She utilizes her training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and mindful-based therapy to meet clients where they are and help them get to where they want to be. Katie enjoys writing and hiking in her free time.

Her focus on grief and at risk populations led to work for many years in the addiction and recovery field. Her work within the recovery community was acknowledged by the Caron Foundation with their Unsung Hero Award in 2014.
Why are you passionate about providing mental healthcare?
“Freedom” is a word I am passionate about. I see trust built with clients as a privilege in walking with them away from pain and addiction and in to the freedom that new thinking styles and strategies can bring.
