About
Destini graduated from Lesley University with a Bachelor of Science in Expressive Arts Therapy and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy. Destini has interned at Medicine Wheel in South Boston with Cushing House’s young men and women in recovery. Destini has also used the arts to help people with persistent mental illness at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital. In addiction treatment, she has worked as a group facilitator, clinical coordinator, and primary therapist. Destini invites individuals to explore creativity, recreation, and spirituality. Destini was part of a group practice called The Well: Center for Hope and Healing, which is a place for healing that addresses the needs of the whole person. She worked in private practice and ran a trauma information group for Check Your Compass Coaching and Counseling. This was prior to working at Inspired DBT. There, she was trained in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). DBT provides emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and mindfulness skills. These skills are helpful for anxiety, depression or overwhelming sadness, borderline personality, self-harm, relationship difficulties and trauma, difficulty managing emotions, difficulty transitioning to college, and communication difficulties within relationships. Destini believes the DBT assumptions that people are doing the best they can, and want to improve.
Outside of therapy, Destini likes to be creative in her free time and loves animals. She loves to draw, paint, and spend time with her dog, Velcro.
