About
Amelia was trained as a Marriage and Family Therapist. She believes in systems thinking, the idea that resists a medical model (ex: diagnose and treat). Instead, people are viewed in terms of how they relate to others, communication patterns, circular causality, and how problems are never rooted in just one person. She values Emotionally Focused Therapy for couple and family work, which is rooted in Attachment Theory. She utilizes hypnotherapy with interested clients with a variety of goals, including those seeking behavior modification or stress reduction. Amelia also employs Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy with individuals. In her spare time, Amelia enjoys reading memoirs and nonfiction, writing poetry, and long-distance running.
