About
"Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." - Victor Frankl.
Patrick is informed with a perspective of human beings, that human beings are good, made for the good, and strive for the good; every human being in a therapeutic setting should be empowered to seek the good in their own lives and experience being unconditional accepted for who they are now and be aided to strive for who they want to become in the future. In his counseling philosophy, Patrick uses Cognitive Theory and Attachment Theory as the main theories in his practice modalities. Using these theories, he evaluates his client's early childhood experiences in their relationship with others, their world, and themselves. The specific approaches he has used are CBT, DBT, CPT, ACT, IFS, and Motivational Interviewing. Patrick believes counseling is a collaborative healing process, helping clients see how their thoughts, emotions, or behaviors are linked to their thoughts about themselves, the future, and the world. Patrick believes that the role of the counselor is to show up with their knowledge and expertise with certain various illnesses to lay out a roadmap for the client to choose their journey and write their own story. In his free time, Patrick relaxes with a nice cup of coffee with a friend and chats about life. Patrick enjoys playing hockey and pickleball, which are among his many hobbies. Patrick also loves to read, and hiking is a prominent way that he exercises self-care.
